You Will Know – November 15, 2021

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Every couple of years, someone new claims to be Jesus returned to earth. They’re always lying.

When Jesus returns to earth, you will know it. First, you will hear it. There will be a loud command coming from heaven, the voice of an angel, and the amazing sound of a trumpet—louder than the amber alert on your phone—that can be heard everywhere in the world.

Then in the middle of all that sound, you will see it. The Lord himself will come down from heaven. He will not sneak up to you on the street and tap you on the shoulder. He will not suddenly reveal himself in a church service. You will look up the heavens, and you will see him.

If there is any doubt in your mind that it is really Jesus, that doubt will disappear. You yourself will be caught up to meet him in the clouds. Jesus does not mean that to be scary. He means it to be encouraging. Those who trust in him will be with the Lord forever.

It’s hard to picture exactly what heaven will be like, but we have the guarantee that we will be with the Lord forever, and that’s enough. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, take away my uncertainties, and lead me to trust that you are coming soon. Amen.
